Delete your account
Draft. This text has not been reviewed by a lawyer yet and may still change. Text in [brackets] is still to be filled in. This is an English translation of the Dutch text; if they differ, the Dutch text applies.
This page explains how to delete your Friendlore account (an app by Ruud van Zwieten), which data we then delete, and what we still keep for a while and why. Everything is also in the privacy policy (sections 6 and 7).
In the app
- Open Friendlore and sign in.
- Tap Profile at the bottom, then the gear icon at the top right (Settings).
- Tap Delete account.
- Enter your password and tap Continue.
- Tap Yes, delete.
Your account is deleted at once and you are signed out. If you entered a wrong password a few times, wait 15 minutes and try again.
Without the app
Can you no longer use the app, for example because you uninstalled it or lost your phone? Email privacy@friendlore.app and say that you want your account deleted. Send the email from your account's email address. That way we know the request comes from you.
We then delete the same data as when you delete your account in the app. We respond within one month. A request is free.
What we delete at once
- your sign-in account: your email address and the encrypted version of your password;
- your profile: display name, bio, profile photo and settings;
- the events you organize, with their updates, guest lists, invitations and cover photos;
- your moments and photos, including those you posted at other people's events;
- your comments, likes and tags;
- your attendance at events and the invitations you sent or received;
- who you follow, who follows you, follow requests and blocks;
- the notifications you received, and your feed.
Photos are wiped from storage within minutes.
People who were going to one of your upcoming events get a notification that the event is cancelled. That notification still contains the event's title, location and start time, but no longer your name.
What we still keep, and for how long
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Reports that others made about you or your content, with a copy of the reported text (the photos themselves are deleted with your account) | 180 days after our last decision on the report, or 180 days after the report if there is no decision yet. Then deleted automatically. |
| Reports you made | Just as long, but without your name: deleting your account removes who made the report. |
| Moderation decisions about your account | As long as the privacy policy says (section 6). |
| Abuse counters (with your user id) | 24 hours |
| Backups | At most [7] days. They are only used to restore the service after an outage. |
| Server logs (with IP address) | [TODO: fill in Supabase's period] |
| Emails you send us, such as a request to delete your account | As long as needed to handle your request, and then at most [12 months] |
Deleting only part of your data
You do not have to delete your whole account. You can delete an event, moment or comment yourself in the app; it is then gone at once, and photos are wiped from storage within minutes. You can change your profile (name, bio, profile photo) yourself.
